About Bodi

Hi, my name is Bodi. I was born on January 16, 2015 to two parents who love me so very much. I have 2 big sisters and one big brother. Boy do they love me! I am constantly being held, played with and sung to by them.

My first 10 weeks have been the best ever. I have been getting lots of love and attention from all of my family and friends. Then I found out that I was going to go on an airplane to visit my Auntie Rah Rah all the way in California. I was so excited. Unfortunately. I caught a little cold, but that didn’t stop me. The doctor’s said I could fly so  Momma and I were on our way. After a few days I really wasn’t feeling well. I was really congested and my tummy was really stretched out. Momma and Rah Rah took me to urgent care where the doctor told me that my cold would get better and that I was a little colicky.

I cried and cried that day and the next. Momma just couldn’t console me for very long. Sunday night they decided it would be a good idea to take me to the emergency room to get checked out.  Well when we arrived there, it was packed. I went to check in and one look at my belly the nurse sent me right back into a room. They poked me with a big needle to start some fluids, which I was a very big boy for. Then they sent me to get a chest x ray to make sure I didn’t  have a bowel blockage.

The nurse came in to talk to my Momma and she got really upset. The x-ray revealed that I had a large mass behind my heart and my liver and spleen were extremely large. Momma called my daddy and he immediately flew out to be with us. We were checked into the hospital to the hemotology and oncology floor.

The next day they took me into a big room where they said they would be taking pictures of my whole body. Momma laid me on a table and I became really sleepy. She whispered she loved me and then I fell asleep.

The doctors moved me into the PICU where I received a lot of attention. My daddy was there and so was my Rah Rah and Uncle Kahil.  When Momma and Daddy went to talk to the doctors I was really upset so Uncle Kahil rocked me and I fell asleep.

The doctors said that the mass was indeed a tumor and that my liver was taking up my whole abdomen. It is pushing my diaphragm up and making it difficult for me to breathe. Also, my spine, trachea, and esophagus are also being squished. No wonder I was so fussy. The Oakland doctors decided it was best for us to be home. Mamaw and Papaw came out to California to snuggle me as well.  I loved all of the attention but was ready to be home.

We want to thank everyone for all of the love and support we have been shown.  Bryan and I are extremely heartbroken over Bodi’s diagnosis, but know that through prayer and the support of our loved ones that he is going to be healed and won’t even remember this terrible time.

Bodi is currently at Children’s Hospital undergoing treatment for for stage four neuroblastoma, an abdominal tumor. Bodi, his parents, family and friends could really use some heavy prayers as they embark on this journey.

  1. Could we help out by selling your t-shirts at Salem Gardens. We also would like to help out with some meals. The Welage’s have always been good Gardens customers and friends and we would like to donate some carryout.
